Frequently asked questions
-How does the waitlist work?
When the puppies are about 1-2 weeks old, we will go down the list (from the top) and contact you to ask if you are ready for a puppy. We will contact you via email and we ask that you respond within 24 hours as we like to spend as much time with the moms and puppies as possible. Prompt response is greatly appreciated! If we do not hear back from you, you will remain of the waitlist. You will NOT lose your spot on the waitlist, but you will need to wait until the next litter.
-How long are dogs pregnant?
Gestation for canines is 61-65 days.
-When can I take my puppy home?
Puppy selection is at 5-6 weeks old and puppies are ready to go home at 8 weeks of age.
-What will my puppy come with?
All of our puppies come with their first set of vaccinations, they will be dewormed and microchipped as well as having a thorough vet exam before going home. When you have confirmed that you are ready for a puppy we highly suggest that you send a snuggle puppy which will go home with the puppy on pickup day along with an information binder (that we will go over at time of pickup), a small bag of prepped food, and a litterbox.
-Why do we require sending a snuggle puppy?
When we confirm that you are ready for your puppy, we will send you a link to the snuggle puppy that we require and the address for it to be sent straight to. We like to use the snuggle puppy when we start crate training. The heartbeat machine inside helps each puppy with their transition of being with their littermates and mom 24/7 to being in the crate at nighttime. This also helps your puppy transition from our home to yours as the snuggle puppy will smell like their littermates.
-How does puppy selection work?
When the puppies are 5-6 weeks old, every family (beginning at the top of the list) will have 1 hour to play with the puppies they will be selecting from. Once you have chosen a litter, you will know your pick order.
-What is litterbox training?
Your puppy will be trained to use the litterbox when they need to go potty. They will be used to sleeping in the crate with a litterbox at the back of it. This helps when transiting your puppy into their new life with your family for a couple different reasons. those reasons being that the puppy will already be used to sleeping in the crate, you will not have to let them out multiple times a night (as they use the litterbox in the back of the crate), and it can provide a comfort for the puppy as they are in a new place with lots of changes.
-Do you have to continue crate training?
Your puppy will be used to and comfortable with sleeping in the crate with a litterbox in the back. This helps make potty training way easier for you and the puppy as they will be used to going pee & poop in the litterbox and you will not need to be waking up every couple hours to let them outside. Once your puppy stops using the litterbox at night, it is time to take it out. We highly encourage you to continue using the crate for many reasons. Most dogs also enjoy going in and out of their crate during the day as long as they are not “over crated”.
